Judge Minty Online!

We are very happy to finally announce that our fan film, Judge Minty, is now online and available to view for free via youtube. I've embedded the movie below, or you can click the link to view on youtube.

The making of this film has been VERY much a team effort and on behalf of 'the producers' of Judge Minty I would like to thank all the people that gave their time to contribute to this project. We have been extremely lucky to have received a huge amount of support from both fellow Dredd fans and also professional film makers, who have given their time, expertise and advice for free.

I would like to give a special mention to Steve Green, who both shot the film and produced the digital effects, meaning he has spent more time working on the project than any other person. Also Daniel Carey-George, whose props and costumes not only provided the initial inspiration for the project, but also helped to create 'a reality' for the story.

And of course Edmund Dehn, for taking a chance on our little fan film, helping us bring Minty to life and also providing the heart of the film.

At a later date, I am hoping to go in to more detail with a proper 'Thank You' post about the great work individual people contributed, but I wanted to keep this post relatively short, and there are so many people to thank.

We would also like to give special thanks to the owners of Judge Dredd and 2000 AD, Rebellion who have allowed us to 'play with their toys' and especially for their consent for the public screenings at festivals and conventions.

Judge Minty is a NOT FOR PROFIT fan film, shown with the kind permission of 2000 AD and Rebellion Judge Dredd® is a registered trademark, © Rebellion A/S®, All rights reserved. Judge Dredd is the Creation of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.

  1. Congratulations! A very cool fan film.

Very impressive CGI effects. The effects of the SPOILER REMOVED toward the end were sensational.

    Awesome sound mix.

Entertaining storyline with a very effective ending.

Edmund Dehn's gritty performance brings Judge Minty to life.

Overall a fantastic achievement. I'm certain the creative success of this film will inspire others to make their own 2000AD-related fan films. :)

  3. That was brilliant.Extremely well made for such a small budget.Just goes to show that sometimes less is more. Here's hoping that Rebellion will take something from this and give us loyal fans another DREDD film. But once again congrats to all involved in this film.

  4. Hi Claude,
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

I'm sure Rebellion would love to see another Dredd film, though I don't think that decision will be theirs, at least for a while. The rights will still lie with either the production company (or perhaps the distributors - I'm not sure who). And as the Dredd film made a loss at the box office, they're unlikely to be in a big rush to make another.

Like everyone else, I've got my fingers crossed, that it's growing popularity since hitting the home market, may make something possible in the future. Who knows.

  5. Well after hearing so much about your film on t'net (mainly on wargames forums), I thought I'd take a look on YouTube and I must say you've done an incredible job!
Congratulations to everyone involved for making a stunning film - the acting, effects, direction and the whole shebang are all fantastic - well done!

  6. Thank You, that was like seeing a childhood dream come to life.
Edmund Dehn was a great choice for Minty and Gregg Staples was a surprisingly good Dredd. Everything was spot on, and the bikes, oh, the bikes - it was so nice to see those big chunky tires, it put a big smile on my face.

This movie shows what happens when you love the subject matter and what can be created without megabucks (although I would love to see what you guys could to to the Dredd universe with some Hollywood funding as well as a sequel to the brilliant Karl Urban's DREDD movie).

Once again, Thank you, and all those involved for giving us Judge Minty.
